Just wanted to keep the team updated. X Factor is venturing into Tennessee on July 31 for a float trip with his boss on the Wataugua River. should be sweet. I was wondering if this will be the first time that a team member has interacted with trout in Tennessee, or if Meat has already been there.

Yo X! I have not interacted with trout in Tennessee. Hopefully you shall be the first. It sounds like fun - supposed to be a real nice river. I expect to see a photo of you with a nice 'bow, while displaying the shocker.

You lucky devil you!!! I have a few years before I get the chance to visit Tennessee Trout streams on a regular basis. Millicent has been swimming in them in the Smokies. Quite cold she says. Have a good time. Take notes.

Check it.
Back from the trip. We drove to Tennessee Thursday and fished at the Watauga. This was pretty cool. There is a hydroelectric dam that runs during the day, so you can only fish from a boat during the day. So we waited until 5 pm until they shut off the damn and then the water level dropped in about 10 minutes and you could wade. Caught my first Tennesse bow on a sulphur just before a massive downpour. Didn't get a picture of it due to the rain. The next day was our guided trip. Due to the rain, the Watauga was too muddy, so the guys picked us up and drove us to Virginia. Yup, Virginia. We fished the New River from a boats. It was cool, we actually caught fish in both Virginia and North Carolina as we floated down the New River. Now these were mostly small mouth bass. But they fight twice as hard as rainbows. We also caught some weird red -eyed fish, which the guides called "Frenchies." "Cause they don't fight for shit!" We were fishing with 6 weight fly rods with kind of a suped up Madam X. I actually didn't lose a fly all day. There were four of us, two in each boat, we all caught at least fifteen and didn't see another fisherman all day... it was sweet. Plus, our guide taught me how to double haul.

Sounds sweet! I read about the Watauga somewhere and how the levels drop like that. How big were the smallies?

On the Watauga my bow was about ten. On the new river, the bass where pretty much twelve or bigger. My friend took a bunch of pics that I'm waiting to have emailed to me. I'll post a few, including me flashing gang signs with the crazy red-eyed Frenchy.
